Anaheim, CA – Not long after Ken Parker electrified the guitar
world with the introduction of the Parker Fly, a Parker bass was featured on the
cover of Bass Player Magazine. Now, after ten years of anticipation, Parker’s
brainchild has become a reality.
The unveiling of the new Parker Fly Bass at this year’s Winter
NAMM show had the show floor buzzing with excitement. Ultra-lightweight at just
under 7 pounds with a now familiar yet unique body shape, the Parker Bass
features all of Parker’s distinctive attributes: versatility, playability and
reliability. The bass offers unmatched range with two custom-wound DiMarzio
Ultra-Jazz pickups and a Fishman active piezo pickup preamp/mixer system.
Available in 4-string and 5-string models, the Parker bass has a quilted maple
top and back, spruce body, and mahogany neck. A combination of carbon-fiber
composite fingerboard, stainless steel frets and Sperzel locking tuners provides
superb playability.
Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton, appearing at the company’s NAMM
press conference, described the Parker bass for the press "The basses play
great, sound incredible and are just rad to look at". Professional bassists,
amateur bassists, dealers, magazines and miscellaneous exhibitors had nothing
but praise for the newest Parker addition.
"When can I get one?" was the most frequently asked question of
the show.
